<—This is me. Laying in our daughter’s bed in the living room. Looks pretty pathetic, huh? I’m 27 years old and up until about a week ago I still had all of my wisdom teeth. One of them began giving me problems so I ended up having an impacted wisdom tooth pulled and have since been limited to a liquid diet. I should mention that about a week before I got the tooth pulled I had a hard time eating so I haven’t had a “real meal” in almost 2 whole weeks.
Not being able to eat solid foods is interesting and I have been craving crunchy, gooey foods for some time now and cannot wait until my diet is no longer restricted. I haven’t been able to work out in about 2 weeks either because I just haven’t been getting the nutrition I need to stay energized and since I got my tooth pulled, it’s still painful so I have no desire to workout right now anyway.
Here are some common wisdom teeth foods that people eat until they can consume solid foods again:
- baby food
- mashed potatoes
- meal replacement drinks (Ensure, Carnation Breakfasts, etc.)
- mashed veggies
Immediately following the procedure you’ll want to make sure the foods you eat are cold or cool. And for a few days you will want to stay away from really cold and very hot. Also, feel free to season food with soy sauce, pepper, salt, etc., to make things taste a bit more interesting.
When you’re confined to a liquid diet, or even soft foods, you are so limited in what you can eat. I have found that the blender is your friend. Last night I concocted a Smores Pop Tart smoothie because I was seriously craving solid food, even more so – a Smores pop tart. I searched the internet to see if there were any recipes online and I couldn’t find anything so I made up my own and it was DELICIOUS! It’s definitely not the most nutritious thing you’ve ever eaten, but it’s a nice break from mashed potatoes and soup!
Wisdom Teeth Foods: Smores Pop Tart Smoothie Recipe (for a special treat!)
* 1 cup milk
* 1 Smores Pop Tart
* 1 cup ice cream
Mix everything together in a blender and blend until smooth. It’s SUPER EASY! Depending on what you can eat you may prefer more or less milk, ice cream or Pop Tarts so just play around with it until the taste and consistency suits you!
