So… there’s this thing called running and I have a really hard time liking it. I love how I feel AFTER but I struggle with the before and during. Because I know that running is important – especially for the personal goals I have for myself, I am working to complete The Color Run 5K Beginner’s Running Program. I have participated in the Twin Cities Color Run but this time I’m just training for myself. I want to learn to have an okay relationship with running and this training plan looks like a really great one to try.
Yesterday I completed day 1 and my plan is to run at least 3 times per week. The schedule suggests 3 to 5 days per week and I’d like to start slow so I’m shooting for 3 days per week. That will get me running a few miles per week which is a lot more than I have been doing (zero…).
As you can tell by looking at my chalk-dust-covered treadmill, it only took 25 minutes and that includes a few minutes of warm up and cool down. That isn’t bad at all. I’m sure the speed changing helps a lot. I have a tough time running steady so this challenge will get more difficult for me as I go as far as that goes, but hopefully the running part will become a little easier for me.
I laminated the schedule and placed it in my new Erin Condren Life Planner so that I’m forced to look at it daily. This will be my friendly reminder to myself that I need to run.
Hey, whatever works!
