It’s Thursday at 10 am and I’ve already completed two workouts and I have a lil celebratory moment to share. In my most recent Chalean Extreme update, I talked about push-ups. How I used to hate them and how I’ve never really done them much (gasp!). Well, I was able to do 10 full push-ups today followed immediately by 8 on the knees! After that set Chalene does a “breakdown” set where you wait 10 seconds and then do 3 push-ups really slowly. I killed my chest so much doing the first 18 that I couldn’t even do ONE for the breakdown set. I actually waited about 30 seconds and ended up doing all 3 “extreme” push-ups on my knees.
It feels great to push until you fail!
I know I’ve done 10-12 push-ups in the past, but it’s been a LONG time. Last week when I did this workout I completed 7 full push-ups and 7 on the knees. I always have the mindset to try and do at least ONE MORE REP than I did the last time (especially with push-ups) and today I did 3 additional full push-ups and still went on to do 8 more on my knees! Such an incredible feeling.
This helps:
Push the floor AWAY! – Chalene Johnson
Well that and being told to clench my butt cheeks together. HA! It works!
I think Chalene Johnson should write a book of quotes. She’s so motivating and says the best stuff. Those who’ve done Turbo Jam, TurboFire or ChaLEAN Extreme know what I’m talkin about.
100 Push-ups Challenge
I’m seriously considering a push-up challenge. I found the 100 push-ups challenge and thought about starting it tomorrow (June 1st). I guess I better hurry up and decide. I’m so tempted! You really can increase the number of push-ups you’re able to do if you just DO them regularly. A challenge can definitely help with that. Hmmmm…. it’d be awesome to be able to do 100 of them.
Will be thinking about doing this for sure.
Workout
Another thing that feels great? Knowing I did two workouts today. I did CE Push Circuit 1 as scheduled and then I was gonna do some HIIT on the treadmill for some quick cardio, but decided on TurboFire Starter Class (~ 40 minutes). It was my first time doing it and I felt like a doofus (as per usual), but it is much easier to follow than the others because she introduces you to the moves used in all the other TF workouts.
I missed two workouts over the weekend so I’ve been trying to play catch up. I think I’m caught up now and then some!
Fit Girl Problems
Surely you experience them at times? There is a blog dedicated to the humorous side of fit girl problems for anybody who likes to laugh. So, that’s everybody I think.. I came across it yesterday and it’s way too great not to share. (Some contain profanity but not all.)
Here’s an example of the goodies you can expect to find:
When I find out that it takes 3,500 excess calories to gain 1 LB of fat, but that if I have a 3,500 calorie deficit it may not show up on the scale, I’m just like:
Ha. See?
You can read more at Fit Girl Problems.
So anyway, even though I missed workouts last weekend, I think I’m doing pretty well. It always feels great when you can tell you’re getting better, stronger or faster!
P.S. Always be sure that you celebrate your achievements – no matter how small they may seem. You deserve it and you owe it to yourself to celebrate! Just don’t stuff your face with a donut. That typically ends with tremendous feelings of guilt and we don’t want that.

I hate push ups, too!!!! I do what I can in Power 90, but know I don’t make myself do them. I would definetly benefit from a push up challenge! I know if I could break this mental block, I would to learn to love them!

I’m on week 3 of the 100 push up challenge and it’s awesome! There’s a cool little app for the iPhone you can use to track you workouts and progress. And if you’re up for challenges, then there’s also the 200 sit-up challenge.

I love this blog! I’ve started mine a month ago (in French, since it’s my mother tongue) and I’ve published a topic about the 100 push ups challenge. I’m now at the 3rd week and going on! I’ve gained a lot of strenght!
So, I’m supporting you to do the same… you can do this and won’t regret it.
Take care!
