I have taken a pretty long break from blogging to focus on my mental health, my family and myself overall. Everything is going well, I just needed a break I guess. I’ve been getting some fun projects done around the house and I can’t wait to share them here with you!
Back in February, I started taking medication again. I started 10mg of Lexapro for like the 4th or 5th time in my life. My libido immediately started to go down and the most frustrating thing was that it was impossible to have an orgasm (sorry if TMI, it’s real life and a very popular side effect of Lexapro).
I talked to my doctor and she prescribed 150mg of Welbutrin XL and advised I take it once a day in the morning. That did help a little but after a month I was still feeling pretty lethargic so she upped the dose to 300mg.
I have more energy but it’s not obnoxious. It feels “normal” if that makes sense. So now I’m taking 10mg Lexapro before bed and 300mg of Wellbutrin XL in the morning. It seems to be a pretty helpful combo for me at this point in my journey.
I think six months is probably the longest time I’ve taken medication for mental health consistently. I keep telling myself that I need to stay on it because every time I go off it (when I think I’m better) I just end up right back on it and have to deal with the side effects all over again.
If you’re interested in seeing my experience when just starting Lexapro be sure to see the following posts. Everyone’s experience and side effects may differ, this was just what I experienced.
I am no longer on any medication for sleep. Workouts definitely help!
If you struggle with depression and/or anxiety and you haven’t tried Lexapro yet, be sure to ask your doctor about it. It’s not for everyone but it has helped me tremendously – along with the Wellbutrin.
I look forward to getting back to blogging and I hope you’ll come back and follow along. :)
