The other day I mentioned that I had started Les Mills Pump again and would be doing it in conjunction with Les Mills Combat. Well guess what? Today I finally started Combat and it didn’t disappoint! My excitement and love for Les Mills Pump had me really anxious to start Combat. You can only expect really great things from Les Mills programs!
I started my workout session with Les Mills Pump: Pump Challenge and followed it up with Combat 30: Kick Start. I prefer to do strength training just prior to cardio. It makes me feel like my cardio session will burn a TON of calories since my body has been hard at work with muscle building.
Les Mills Combat: Kick Start Review
- Duration: 30 minutes (including warm-up and cool-down)
- One million punches
- 5,000 kicks
- The end.
Ha! Kidding.
Sorta…
There were a lot of boxing moves in this workout and so far boxing is my favorite fighting style. There was a bit of karate and kata in it as well. I just love this stuff!
Despite my crappy cardiovascular system, I managed to stay with the workout for almost the entire duration. I stopped twice I think and each time I stopped, it was basically just to rest my arms a few seconds. They’re still sore from my LMP workout I did the other day and all the punches completely wore them out.
Pros
- There is a modifier (excellent for people who want low-to-no impact)
- Music is excellent! (as usual with Les Mills stuff)
- Variety of moves
- Dan & Rach from LMP are the main trainers in this workout – Rach has always been my favorite Pump trainer!
- Time seemed to go by very quickly
- 2:00 minutes of stretching at the end
- Option to have the “music pumped up” (you can also set it so the music is lower to hear the trainers’ instruction better – great for your first couple of times through a workout; I always choose the music pumped up option no matter what. Hee hee.)
Cons
- NONE.
- Seriously, I can’t think of any. I’ll keep trying.
Les Mills Combat Video Clips
Next week I’m really going to try and knock out as many Combat videos as I’m able to. It’s been crazy lately with the holidays and all the kids being out of school so I wasn’t able to record today. Video uploading and editing is quite the project sometimes but I promise to do my best. When I have a video clip for you in a new post, I will always be sure to include {Video} in the title so you know if there’s a video included or not. :)
