I was given the opportunity to review Go! Go! Sports Dolls and I couldn’t turn it down. The whole concept is amazing and I love the fact that they don’t have faces full of makeup and skimpy outfits. Surely you’ve seen a Bratz doll…and you hafta check out Go! Go! Sports Girls vs Barbie.
From the Go! Go! Sports Girls Website:
“Dream Big Toy Company™ created Go! Go! Sports Girls™ as a fun and educational way to promote self-appreciation and the benefits of daily exercise, healthy eating and sleeping habits, self-esteem and overall healthy life-skills for girls ages 3-12.
Go! Go! Sports Girls™ are age and size appropriate. They do not encourage an older or overly mature image. The image is innocent with a subtle yet strong message – appreciate and be true to yourself! The dolls are currently available at retailers nationwide as well as through a variety of online vendors.
At Dream Big Toy Company™, we feel strongly about giving back. A portion of our profits is donated to organizations that encourage girls to participate in physical activity and develop healthy lifestyles.”
Jodi Norgaard, the founder of Go! Go! Sports Girls, allowed me to choose which doll I’d like to review and I chose M.C. the dancer. Our 5-year-old daughter loves to dance around the house so I thought she’d like her best. M.C. also has brown hair and brown eyes just like our daughter so I knew she’d like her for that reason too.
M.C. loves to move and groove! She likes to dance because it makes her feel free. She enjoys all types of dance, but Hip-Hop is her favorite. Before dancing she always stretches and eats a healthy snack, like strawberries. When she is not dancing, M.C. likes playing the piano and practicing her cheerleading moves.
M.C. likes to Dream Big and Go For It!
Here’s the actual doll we received:
Also, the eyes, nose and mouth are sewn so you don’t have to worry about small children plucking them off and putting them into their mouths.
What’s included with the doll:
- Sports-related outfit that does come off (including leg warmers which our daughter loves – she didn’t even know what they were before, but she loves them now!)
- White towel
You can find Go! Go! Sports Girls Dolls at various online retailers including Amazon and Kohls. These dolls would make the perfect gift for the young girls in your life. Lets get our girls interested in being active instead of sitting around watching tv or playing computer and video games and help in the fight against childhood obesity!
Other dolls available:
- Brooke (golf)
- Ella (runner)
- Gracie (tennis)
- Maya (gymnastics)
- Sam (softball)
- Suzi (swimmer)
- Taye (basketball)
- Anna (soccer)
- Kate (basketball)
The dolls are getting excellent reviews too, here are just a few from Amazon:
- “Suzi the Swimmer Girl is super-cute, especially the goggles and flip-flops. Both dolls are of excellent quality, and the “dream big and go for it” message is great for young girls.”
- “Go Go Sports Dolls make great pals for girls. Their positive message encourages girls at a young age. I would purchase them for any girl I know and they all seem to lug them everywhere esp. to their favorite sport festivity.”
AND MY PERSONAL FAVORITE:
- “Not every girl wants to be a princess or a fashion model–it’s refreshing to see dolls focussed on sports and health!”
Summin’ it up:
Overall I really think these are great dolls that send a positive message – which young girls really need. The focus doesn’t always have to be on fashion and looking like a supermodel. From what I can tell, the dolls are made very well. My daughter has replaced all of her other “bed dolls” with M.C. the dancer. She carries her around everywhere and is constantly playing with M.C.’s hair.
