In order to create your very own cheap home gym, you really don’t need a whole lot of equipment. You can get a variety of workouts with a weight bench, resistance bands and a jump rope!
A great way to save money is to buy used gym equipment, but you CAN buy cheap home gym equipment that is brand new. If you’re a beginner and you’re on a budget, just realize that you don’t need “top-of-the-line” equipment to get the greatest workout.
With that said, here’s a great list of items to get started on your cheap home gym:
A Weight Bench.
Perfect for the strength training moves your body needs. I bought mine at Sports Authority but you can probably find them cheaper on Amazon. I purchased the Gold’s Gym brand and then I also purchased a set of 300lb weight plates that same day and I asked them for a discount and they gave me one. I don’t recall exactly what I paid, but I got a great deal and was happy that I didn’t have to pay retail.
Resistance Bands.
Resistance bands are wonderful if you don’t want to spend the money on several sets of dumbbells. You can find these cheap on Amazon as well. I would be careful and not to get super cheap bands. When they snap on you, it hurts bad!
Jump Rope.
In addition to running, jogging or swimming for cardio activity, adding a jump rope to your cheap home gym will offer you more ways to do cardio.
Once you become more advanced and have more money to spend on a home gym, you can add to the items that you already have and replace any items that you’d like to upgrade.
A good quality home gym setup doesn’t need to cost a fortune. If you keep it simple and start with simple equipment that lets you do a variety of workouts you’ll save hundreds if not thousands of dollars.
