Today I’m takin’ it wayyyyy back.
One of the many home fitness programs I’ve completed since I started doing them in 2012 is ChaLean Extreme. It was the second program I completed which was just after Les Mills Pump (which has unfortunately been retired and discontinued). I have the TurboFire program but I’ve never attempted the full program because that would require coordination and well, I have none. I actually do really love the TurboFire HIIT workouts because they’re challenging, effective and short in duration ~ just how I like my cardio!
This lead me to create a 30 day hybrid of ChaLean Extreme (for the strength training) and TurboFire HIIT workouts (for the high intensity cardio). “Hybrid” is just a fancy word for combining one or more fitness programs. You can find more of them here. I wanted to share the hybrid here with you in case you prefer strength training too but also like to add in a liiiiiiiittle cardio. It’s a great way to add variety to your workouts and also make use of programs you already have.
I actually started this hybrid on Monday and knocked out day 2 yesterday with TurboFire Low HIIT 20. Low = low impact. It also means staying low to the ground throughout the workout which is a challenge in itself!
Burning ~233 calories in less than 20 minutes? Not bad. Not bad at all.
I managed to get the choreography down pretty well by the time each HIIT came up. Just kidding. Ahahahaha! I’m terrible. It was fun though and that’s all that matters right??

Why this schedule?
ChaLean Extreme is a program that focuses on strength training and features three strength workouts per week in addition to two workouts that are more cardio-based. To kick things up a notch I’ve left the ChaLean Extreme schedule as-is and added in two TurboFire HIIT workouts. This gives a pretty nicely rounded 30 day schedule with 6 days of workouts per week.
As always, of course you can adjust/modify as needed!
