Like I had stated yesterday, today I had fully planned on doing the 20 minute HIIT workout that I’ve been doing for quite awhile now. My quads started to hurt about 4 minutes in so I wasn’t able to sprint at 9 mph like I did the last time, but instead ran at 8 mph. I was still exhausted when I got done and I even fell asleep before I could even eat or take a shower. Not sure why I am so tired today!
20 Minute HIIT Workout:
- 3 minute warm-up at 4 mph
- 30 second sprint intervals at 8 mph (minutes 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15 and 17)
- 90 second recovery periods at 4 mph
- 2.5 minute cool down at 4 mph
What’s better, is that I was finally able to convince my husband to try it for the first time. He’s been working on building muscle for over a year now and he’s so happy he’s finally over 200 pounds. Before he started working out again, he was around 180. Anyway, now he wants to work on the little bit of belly fat that he has, though not much at all, I told him to try HIIT to see what kind of results he’d get. It helped me lose the last 15 stubborn pounds I was struggling with so I’m sure it will help him too. Though then he’ll probably lose a couple pounds and then have to gain more muscle to get past 200 again. Waaaaaaaaaaaa. :)

Thanks! I was looking for a quick gym workout and I did it today. I need to blast the fat, so this was perfect, and I sweat more than I was expecting to. How long did it take you to loose the extra 15lbs? How many days a week do you do this?

Once I started doing the HIIT it really only took probably 2 months? Just make sure that you eat pretty well too – that’ll help give you results super fast. Also, I was doing HIIT workouts 2-3 times per week. Good luck! :)

Hi Melinda, thanks for the response! My eating is pretty decent, I’ve just got a few stubborn pounds that have to get cut. I’m going to do this for my quick lunch workout instead of a tempo run, I think it should help. Plus, this is the perfect duration. Much appreciated.
