The Most Underrated Beachbody Home Workout Program Is…

If you aren’t familiar with Beachbody, where have you been hiding?? Kidding. But you have seen some of their infomercials on different workout programs, right? Beachbody has a huge library of home workout programs that are fun, affordable and effective. If you don’t have a gym membership or weights in your home, Beachbody can whip you into shape with any of their workouts from your own living room. I have completed several of their programs (here are my favorites) and I keep going back to most of the programs I have, too.

There is one specific program in the Beachbody library that I think is very underrated and that workout is Chalene Johnson’s ChaLEAN Extreme. ChaLEAN Extreme is a strength training program that helps you build muscle and burn more fat. There are also a couple of cardio workouts included to get your heart rate up! All you need to start are a set of dumbbells. If you don’t have dumbbells you can sub in soup cans or something. Hey, it works! You gotta do what you gotta do, right?

Who ChaLEAN Extreme is For:

  • Those new to strength training. Chalene Johnson is a fantastic teacher and she makes it fun all the way through.
  • Those who prefer workouts in the 25-45 minute range. These workouts are full body workouts and they go by pretty quickly! She uses compound moves to help you get more done in less time.

Why ChaLEAN Extreme is Underrated:

  • It’s simple to follow. People who are new to strength training can sometimes feel intimidated to start (I was!) but Chalene guides you the whole way.
  • Safety always comes first. Chalene talks about proper form and lifting techniques which is so helpful to “newbies” and also a great reminder for those who are a little more experienced.
  • It’s a very effective strength training program. The exercises target all of your major muscle groups including your hamstrings, quads, back, chest, abs, arms and shoulders.
  • It can be combined with just about any other Beachbody program (or other workout). I’m a huge fan of Beachbody hybrids and I create my own all the time. If you’d like to customize your own hybrid you can use this scheduler. Just keep in mind that it’s not perfect and you may need to tweak the result. I think hybrids help keep things exciting and they keep you using the workouts you already have but in a different way so it doesn’t get old. In my opinion, ChaLEAN Extreme would make a great hybrid with workouts like Insanity, Insanity MAX:30, PiYo and Les Mills Combat. If you love to run this would be a great workout to add to your routine to help you build muscle and strength all over.

ChaLEAN Extreme is just one of those workout programs where the infomercial didn’t do real well for the program. But, if you’re a fan of Chalene Johnson (or you like great, positive fitness trainers who make workouts fun) and you want to get stronger and build muscle, I promise ChaLEAN Extreme will get you closer to your goals.
