BBX Challenge: 2 Loves 1 Hate

Since my bruised bone box jump mishap, I haven’t been doing much of the BBX Challenge. I got frustrated because a lot of the moves I couldn’t do with my shin bruised. So I stopped. I did some things here and there that felt okay, but I wasn’t working out regularly which is why I haven’t posted any recent updates about this challenge. This week my bruise is feeling much better so I’m ready to continue tackling the program. I’m {Read More}

Well my leg still hurts. Have you ever had a bone bruise? I don’t think I’ve had one this bad. Ever. But I guess that can happen when box jumps go bad. I can’t run yet. The hubs and our youngest went on a 2-mile walk last weekend and my leg was throbbing when we got home. It felt good to walk but damn… it still hurts. The pain hasn’t kept me off my plyo box though. One of the {Read More}

When Box Jumps Go Bad

Do you have a fitness fear? I do. And it has to do with box jumps. I remember being pretty nervous to attempt my first ever box jump. It took me several tries to get the confidence to jump. It didn’t seem possible that I could jump 18″ high. And when I did, boom! Made it just fine. When it comes to workouts.. I lift, do circuits or cardio or something and everything usually goes pretty well. That was.. up {Read More}

For the last 3 weeks I’ve been clinging to Christmas Abbott’s Badass Body Challenge for my home workouts. I haven’t missed a single day and I’ve been working out 5 days a week. This is the best streak I’ve been on in a couple years now. Praise. the. Lord. I’m loving this program so far and I’m definitely noticing changes already so I wanted to share my experience so far. I’m a paid member of this program (worth every penny!) {Read More}

Happy August! My kids start school in just over a month. That’s nuts! It’s time for my monthly post where I talk about my little old goals. I’ve also included this month’s Book of the Month Club selection. I’ve been a member for 3 months now and I’ve been enjoying the selections. Many are ones I probably wouldn’t have considered and others are ones I’ve been looking forward to! I have a paid membership. Book of the Month Club is a {Read More}

Good morning! I hope you had an awesome 4th of July! We’ve been keeping pretty busy this weekend doing yardwork, making my book of the month selection (that’s important!), finishing up the entry way bench, moving flowers around, enjoying the pool, visiting my parents’ new camper and campsite and watching Bloodline on Netflix. Even with all of that excitement I’m happy to be back in my routine this morning!       We also saw some pretty fireworks on Sunday {Read More}

Happy last day of June! Crazy. I’m really looking forward to July because it’s one of my favorite months. I get to celebrate my oldest turning 14 and Roger and I will be celebrating 8 years of wedded bliss! haha. And it should be feeling like summer here for most of the month. Our summers are short so bring the heat I say. Minnesota has a hard time doing that sometimes… I’ve been thinking about what I wanted to work {Read More}

Hey! Happy June 27th! It’s been feeling like fall in Minnesota for the past few days so I’m hopeful that July will bring back the summer feels! We only have so much summer here… be kind to us please. So I’ve always loved lifting. The name of my blog might give that away. Cardio has never been my strong suit, until recently. All I’ve been doing are treadmill HIIT workouts for the last 3 weeks or so and I’m loving it. {Read More}

Good morning and Happy Friday! Two posts in two days? Yep! Because books. I love to read. The hardest part is making time to read. Our spring has been so busy with track, soccer, concerts and end-of-school-year stuff that it’s been hard to get much of anything done lately. As a gift to myself I subscribed to Book of the Month Club yesterday and it’s my very first pick! I’m not sure how great picks usually are but I had a {Read More}

Eating and Lifting Update… and Happy June!

Happy June! I’m hopeful this month will be less chaotic than last month. There has been so much going on lately and my anxiety has been in complete overdrive! Looking forward to calmer times. Things are a little better since my last update so looks like things are headed in the right direction. I wanted to update the blog with a couple things I’ve been playing around with when it comes to eating. For several years I followed the whole {Read More}
