2017 Goals

Twenty-seventeen is officially on its way so it’s time for me to set some goals for the year. I plan to update this post on a monthly basis to assess where I am and figure out what I still need to work on. I will also continue to do my monthly goals posts as I have been doing – I will probably start that again in February since January is almost half over.

If you’ve read any of my previous monthly goals posts you’ll notice that I’m including the same categories. I will break them down a little more with each monthly post.

2017 Goals

Fitness

  • Complete 3 Beachbody programs on Beachbody On Demand from beginning to end. This will get me closer to where I want to be physically and you can’t go wrong with free t-shirts for completing their programs!

January: Hammer & Chisel (in progress)

April: Body Beast (round 2)

August: TBD – There are supposed to be 3 new programs coming out this year so I’m waiting to see what they are.

Financial

  • Pay off debt. That’s it. I’m following Dave Ramsey’s baby steps from The Total Money Makeover and right now I have all of our debts – including our mortgage – in a debt snowball spreadsheet.

Right now I’m focused on credit cards and then it’ll be vehicles, then student loans, then the mortgage. I’m tracking them all though because I like seeing the overall number GO DOWN.

Total debt as of 12/31/2016: $224,900. (including mortgage and my student loans)

Blogging

  • Complete Elite Blog Academy 3.0. I’m so, so, so excited about this! This is an amazing blogging course created by Ruth Soukup and it’s been getting rave reviews since she first began offering the course a few years ago. I believe the latest course opens up next month. I know it’s going to be a lot of work but I really want to complete the course and see how I can improve my blogging going forward.
  • Get 5,000 Pinterest followers. Out of all the social media sites, Pinterest is the one that drives the most traffic to my site. It makes sense to focus on Pinterest as far as social media goes. I get so frustrated with Facebook since hardly anybody sees the posts there.

Pinterest followers:

*January 10th: 1,769

*February 10th: 1,854

*March 13th: 1,923

Personal

  • Create a 2017 vision board. I’m actually working on this this week and plan on finishing it this weekend. I’m going to do a virtual vision board this year so that I can use it as the background on my laptop and print several copies out so I can see them often.

You can see my 2017 virtual vision board in this post.

I’ve made several vision boards in the past:

  • Paint the upstairs bathroom. The paint in our upstairs bathroom is starting to peel over by the shower. This is likely a combination of not having a fan (who builds a home and doesn’t put a fan in the bathroom? especially an upstairs bathroom?!) and painters using the wrong kind of paint. This seems like a good spring project.

  • Read 18 books. I’m taking the 2017 Reading Challenge on Goodreads and 18 is my number. Might not sound like a lot to some, but it is for me. It averages to 1.5 books per month. That’s totally doable.

*****

If I could sum up my wishes for 2017 it would be to make as much money as possible by putting in the time at my office job, blogging awesome content and selling things I don’t need and using that money to attack debt. I’d also like to get some reading done and make my upstairs bathroom pretty. :)

Ugh. That debt, though.

I’m on it!
